We have two mature Tamarind Trees in our farm. But, only one of them fruits well. It more than suffices for our personal consumption. We have been selling this super sour Tamarind to our friends, family and via our online store. The processing of the tamarind to deseed is not similar to the flattened ones you find in the grocery stores and supermarkets. We peel and dry the tamarind well in the Tirunelveli summer sun so that the customers get complete value for their money.
Other than using Tamarind in Sambar and Rasam, we regularly make Tamarind Rice a.k.a Puli Sadham / Puliodharai. On days when we are very busy with farm work or are on an outing, we prefer to do a low effort meal. This Pulikaachal Podi / Tamarind Rice Mix comes very handy on such days.
