Recommended 4-Day Family Itinerary

Designed for mixed ages (8โ€“15). Older children take on responsibility; younger ones lead with curiosity. Parents rest, participate, or simply watch – all equally welcome.

8:00 โ€“ 9:00 AM – Arrival & breakfast
Check into Kalpataru or Palluyir rooms. Farm-cooked breakfast served. Informal introductions between families over filter coffee and fresh cow’s milk.

9:00 โ€“ 11:00 AM – The Morning Farm Walk
Food forest trail, timber trees, fruit trees, pond ecosystem. Children given a small notebook to sketch 3 things they notice.
๐Ÿ„ Stop at the animal shed: meet the indigenous cows, Muscovy ducks, chickens. Children can help with morning feeding.

11:00 โ€“ 11:30 AM โ€” Compost corner visit
What goes in, what comes out, the invisible workers (earthworms, fungi).

11:30 AM โ€“ 12:30 PM โ€” Shade & rest
Tender coconut water, free time, settle in.

12:30 โ€“ 2:00 PM โ€” Lunch & midday rest
Farm-cooked meal, quiet time indoors.

4:30 โ€“ 6:30 PM โ€” Vegetable garden session
Sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, mulching, watering. Each child plants something they take home at the end.

6:30 โ€“ 7:30 PM โ€” Bee conversation & evening stroll
Learn about the farm’s bee colonies, honey, pollination, why bees matter. Observation only โ€” safe and calm.

7:30 โ€“ 9:00 PM โ€” Farm dinner together
Home-cooked meal, served family style. Conversation starter: “One thing that surprised you today.”
๐ŸŒŸ No screens at the dinner table โ€” farm rule, gently enforced.

9:00 PM onwards โ€” Night sky & fireflies
Open sky, no light pollution, KMTR forest edge. Optional stargazing conversation about constellations.

6:00 โ€“ 7:00 AM – Early morning farm chores
Collect eggs, feed the ducks and chickens.
Optional โ€” for children who are early risers. Parents welcome too.

7:00 โ€“ 8:30 AM – Farm breakfast
Fresh eggs, farm produce, filter coffee / fresh cow’s milk for children.

8:30 โ€“ 9:00 AM – Cow milking
Watch and participate in the morning milking of our indigenous cows. The milk from this morning may well appear in your tea or coffee.

9:00 โ€“ 10:30 AM – Garden & harvest session
Visit the vegetable garden and mushroom room. Harvest whatever is ready โ€” greens, vegetables, or oyster mushrooms if fruiting. What you pick will be cooked for lunch.
๐ŸŒฟ The harvest depends on what the farm offers that day โ€” that unpredictability is part of real farming.

10:30 โ€“ 10:45 AM – Short break
Tender coconut water, rest in shade.

10:45 AM โ€“ 12:30 PM – Wattle & daub wall building
Mix mud and straw, weave the wattle frame, press daub into place. Messy, hands-on, unforgettable. Parents and children side by side.
๐Ÿ—๏ธ This is a real construction happening on the farm โ€” children are genuine contributors, not just observers.

12:30 โ€“ 2:00 PM – Lunch & rest
What you harvested this morning is on the table. Midday rest / reading / quiet time indoors.

3:30 โ€“ 6:00 PM – Alwarkurichi pottery village visit
Each child throws a small pot on the wheel, guided by the local potter. A piece to take home.
๐Ÿบ Alwarkurichi is a short drive away โ€” a living tradition, not a demo centre.

6:30 โ€“ 8:00 PM – Visit to a neighbouring organic farmer
Hear their story, see a different approach to farming. Short drive or walk.

8:00 PM – Dinner & open evening
Families spend time together, cards, stories, early night.

6:30 โ€“ 7:30 AM – Morning chores & coconut tree climbing machine demo
A crowd favourite. Children who want to can try it with supervision.

7:30 โ€“ 8:30 AM – Breakfast
Farm-style, unhurried.

8:30 โ€“ 9:00 AM – Cow milking
Morning milking with the indigenous cows. A quiet, grounding ritual to start the day.

Rs. 1000 per person extra for Shenbagadevi trek inclusive of trek charges and transport.

1:30 โ€“ 3:00 PM – Lunch & rest
Midday quiet indoors.

4:30 โ€“ 6:00 PM – Bee conversation & food forest walk
Learn about the farm’s bee colonies, honey, pollination. Observe the hive. Then a slow walk through the food forest identifying trees and their uses.

7:30 PM – Dinner
Families spend time together, cards, stories, early night.

6:30 โ€“ 7:30 AM – Final morning on the farm
Collect eggs, feed the animals one last time. Children lead this independently.

Unhurried, farm-style.

8:30 โ€“ 9:00 AM – Cow milking
One last morning with the cows.

9:30 โ€“ 11:00 AM – Circle & closing

2:00 โ€“ 5:00 PM – Rest & checkout
Check-out completed, families relax until transport.
