Vaanavil Farm & Food Forest is a 11 acre organic farm. It is run by Noushadya & Sudhakar and the women & men of the nearby village of Agashiyarpuram. We are an integrated permaculture farm with lots of animals around – domesticated and wild. We raise native cows, chickens, Muscovy ducks, bees, and dogs. Our farm is surrounded by Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve; so there is ample wildlife around. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot Sambar deer and spotted deer. You might also see Sloth bears, wild pigs, wild dogs, and many more.

If you plan to depart by the evening train from the farm and want to spend only the day at the farm with F&B, please let us know.
Important pointers to note before filling out the Reservation request form
- We are a mindful sustainable farm stay. We ask you to keep calm and peace during your stay here.
- We do not have a television in either of the rooms. We do have board games. There is a loaded bookshelf with fiction and non-fiction books. You will also find musical instruments. Additionally, there is plenty of outdoor space to spend time in and contemplate the purpose of life and your life.
- Both rooms are on the first floor with access only by a staircase.
- The ground floor has the dining area and it is semi-outdoor.
- Both rooms are naturally cool. So, they do not have air conditioners.
- We do not have trash pick up facility at the farm. So, please carry back all non-compostable waste.
- There is no wifi at the farm. The 5G speeds are good enough to run / upload videos at the farm.
- Unfortunately, we are not a pet-friendly farm yet. The dogs at the farm are adopted from the street – they tend to be territorial as a pack when other animals visit. The fact that we live next to a forest has only ensured that they look at other animals, except the ones that call the farm their home, as adversaries.
- We ask you not to be inebriated or smoke while at the farm.

We are a small business and cannot afford last minute cancellations.
If you cancel more than 7 days in advance of start date of stay, we will refund 90% of the reservation charges.
If you cancel within 7 days of the start of stay, you will be refunded 50% of the reservation charges.

April 14, 2025A farm stay by the farmer, as we would rate Vanavil. The host couple along with their kid and parents makes the experience complete with their hospitality. Home cooked organic food for every meal, clean air, closer to religious places and in the midst of nature takes the stay experience to an elevated positioning. Also, it's a great place to take young kids to this stay and expose them to a farm life, mingle with cattle, chicken and ducks. In all, a great experience that we relished every moment.

January 4, 2026Spent NYE 2025 at Vanavil Farm Stay. It was unlike many other farm stays we have been to - in the sense that, farm stay is not just a theme but you get an authentic and real experience, since Sudhakar and Noushadya are living that life. The location is great - you have to make an effort to get there (train being most convenient but the closest airport also just 2 hours away). Once you’re there, it does feel like you’ve been given a chance to visit another country without visa or passport. The smell of sand, grass, fresh air welcomes you, as do the lovely dogs in the farm. The food is prepared by Noushadya using produce from their farm and also sourced from other farmers around. Food was delicious and apart from stealing off some recipes from her, it was also responsible for our afternoon siesta. Since they have been living there for 5+ years, their knowledge of things to do around is amazing as well and we had a few great outings at Tenkasi, Papanasam, Tiger Reserve. There are also few streams around the farm which can double up as picnic spots and you can spend a few hours there. This will be a great option for people wanting a real break and be close to nature and also for people with flexible work options (the 5G is great). I am definitely going to be a regular at Vanavil Farm Stay!

They are an epitome of simple living. Their hospitality, the beautiful surroundings, and the chance to experience farm life firsthand made it an unforgettable stay. From the moment we walked in, we were highly impressed by the spaciousness and thoughtful design of the room, impeccably clean and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities you could need for a comfortable stay at a farm. Everything felt very at-home, keeping simplicity, sustainability and nature as priority. An integral part of the stay is getting an opportunity to eat food cultivated by them cooked by the blessed hands of Noushy, so simple and tasty that you will go for multiple servings undoubtedly and of course some jamming sessions from Sudhakar. It was really impressive to see how they honour and value the local products which are available in Thirunelveli from the bath towels to the mats, supporting small businesses and trying to uplift them. We highly recommend this place to everyone who is planning for a staycation amidst a farm, learning and understanding a Vivasayee’s life.

October 1, 2025We spent a night at Vaanavil Farm Stay with our family, including our two kids (aged 10 and 2), and it was a truly refreshing experience. If you’re a nature lover who isn’t chasing over-the-top luxury, you’ll find this place delightful. It offers a perfect balance — clean, comfortable, and simple, with an earthy charm and all the basic amenities you need. It’s one of those places you really have to visit to understand — words hardly do it justice! Sudhakar (the super host, who even treated us to a lovely little music performance), his wife Naushadya (a warm and wonderful host, and an amazing cook), and their daughter Vanya (with her adorable smile) made us feel right at home. Initially, we were a little surprised by the food pricing, but the moment we tasted their lovingly prepared, truly unique home-cooked meals, we knew every bite was worth it. Wishing Sudhakar and his lovely family all the very best!

February 16, 2025Vaanavil like its namesake is an exceptionally beautiful place. Nestled amidst serene greenery, it is a breathtaking place for unwinding and getting back in touch with nature. The place is very convenient for all age groups and is close by to all local attractions. The hosts - Sudhakar and Noushadya are an AMAZING power couple and the home cooked meals are out of the world. Consider yourselves lucky if idiyappam is on the menu :). You ll definitely want to come back for more. Highly recommend this to all.

A farm practicing organic farming, permaculture and nature restorative practices in a world of plastic and over consumption. The food is heavenly and farm to table in the purest and rarest of the types available. The Hosts, Sudhakar, Noushadya and the little one make it a homely yet home away from home kind of an experience. It’s a perfect place for people who want a quiet weekend or a temple visiting vacation with family. To anyone wishing to explore and start a slow life, this is the right place to stay, slowcation, ponder before you go down this path.

February 26, 2025Noushadya and Sudhakar are the warmest hosts anyone could hope for. The place is very simple, super functional in design yet aesthetic. The structures are naturally cool despite the hot summer outside. Our favorite hangout spot is the dining area. The places are kept super clean. Noushy's food is something that you look forward to every time of the day. She cooks the most delicious yet light meals with all the ingredients straight from the farm to the table. The fruits you are served are fresh from the tree to the table. We loved the calm away from the city storm and this place is very inspiring to embrace a simple and minimalistic lifestyle. The couple are very resourceful in terms of arranging for quick transport to the places in and around. Despite the location being away from the Ambasamudram buzz, it never felt aloof. The ecosystem and the support system with which they run the show and the knowledge that they have of the place makes you feel super secure. Do not miss Sudhakar's music and the board games. This is the best vacation that my husband and I have taken with the kid in a very long time! A must visit!
